In the late 1800s, a Baltimore investor changed the course of history with one bold stroke of his pen by signing a bequest that would create the Johns Hopkins University and the Johns Hopkins Hospital. Mr. Hopkins set an example that stands as one of the most remarkable acts of personal philanthropy in the world.

The Johns Hopkins Legacy Society celebrates the enduring legacy of Mr. Hopkins and the individuals who choose to follow in our founder's footsteps. The Legacy Society honors those who secure the financial future of Johns Hopkins University and Johns Hopkins Medicine by making a life-income gift or a bequest. Legacy gifts play a vital role in achieving the goals of Rising to the Challenge: The Campaign for Johns Hopkins and can support any area of Johns Hopkins. As a member of the Johns Hopkins Legacy Society, you will receive a personalized welcome package, commemorative pin, invitations to Johns Hopkins events, and a complimentary subscription to our semi-annual newsletter, Planning Matters, featuring charitable giving stories, planned giving opportunities, and tax tips. The Legacy Society is represented by co-chairs and ambassadors from across Johns Hopkins.
